Prof. Alparslan Açıkgenç was born in 1952 and graduated from the Faculty of Theology of Ankara University in 1974 with a BS degree in Philosophy History.

In 1977, he completed his master’s degree in Philosophy History at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 1983, he completed his Ph.D. degree in History of Philosophy at The University of Chicago and received the title of Doctor. In 1988, Associate Professor received his professorship titles in 1994. He has been involved in various administrative duties at state and foundation universities.
