Islamic Education in the Maldives: The Way Forward

Dr Abdullah Shiham Hasan has been Islamic Finance Advisor for Central Bank of Maldives (MMA) from 2008 until the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) was established in 2010. He served as Chairman of Bank of Maldives PLC from 2011-2013. Dr. Shiham was Board Director of Amanah Takaful Maldives PLC from 2012 to 2019.
His PhD in Laws was achieved from IIUM in 2008 followed by Master of Comparative Laws (MCL) also at IIUM. He obtained LLB (Hons) was from University of Tasmania Australia with a combination of LLB(Shariah) components from Ahmadu Bello University Nigeria.
At present Dr.Shiham is a Governing Council Member of Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) appointed by the Minister of Higher Education since 2019. He served as Senior Lecture and Head of Law Department of Faculty of Shariah and Law at Maldives National University (MNU) from 2010-2013.
